Section 46 — Casual vacancies
(1)When a casual vacancy occurs in the office of a member of the Standing Committee, 6[Corporation or, as the case may be, Wards Committee shall] fill up the vacancy, as soon as may be after, and in any case within one month of, the occurrence of the vacancy, by the election of another councillor or 7[persons referred to in sub-clause (i) of clause (b) of sub-section (3) of section 3].
(2)A member elected to fill a casual vacancy shall be elected to serve for the remainder of his predecessor’s term of office
